Our goal as a class when creating our final video was to share our community members story in an ethical and moral way. Prior to conducting our interviews we sat down with Chanda Womack and Sana Mustafa in a conversational setting to talk about how to share these stories with the world in a respectable way. What I took away from this talk was to not focus on the emotional aspect of our community members experience but to use their story and their experiences they were willing to share to empower them.
When creating our final project there were many ethical considerations to think about. Our videos were uploaded online therefor not only are the community members and the school community our audience but we also had to think about the public audience. For this rhetorical consideration we had to think about how to connect with a public audience and portray our community members experience in a way that others could understand without background knowledge on the subject. One way we did this was by providing textual information in our video of the conflict in The Congo. We also had to consider the timeline of Clements story and providing transitions and images that give the viewer time to reflect on the information provided.
